About John

Hello running world and welcome to my Running Everywhere website. Running or should I say jogging has been a passion of mine since my college days at Eastern Illinois University.

Being from the Midwest I have experienced running in all types of weather conditions, cold, hot, windy, and snowy.

I have learned a lot from my running experiences over the years and would like to share those leanings with you.

A Snapshot Of My Running Life

I started my college days and found the freedom exhilarating with no one to tell me what to do. As I imagine other college students have done I perfected the art of beer drinking and eating junk food. Guess what? It only took a few months for me to gain 30 pounds and expand my waist from 32 to 38 inches. I felt and looked like the Pillsbury dough boy. I needed to make a serious life style change.

So in the middle of the winter on a snowy evening, so no one could see me I laced up my sneakers threw on a jacket and took off. In a matter of 200 steps my legs turned to jello. However, I was determined and kept going. Then the next hurdle occurred. My lungs felt like they had been invaded by 10,000 oxygen sucking parasites. Finally, I was able to fight off the parasites but then realized I was freezing to death. I had failed to wear gloves or put on a stocking hat. I was lucky that I did not have any frost bitten fingers or ears.

Everyone knows of at least one person in their life who through hard work and perseverance has changed their lives.

Running Has Come A Long Way

Not only has running come a long way but so has the technology used in developing clothing has made tremendous leaps and bounds. You don’t see many runners today wearing the old gray sweat suits on a rainy cold day.
The technology of today is lightweight, breathable and water resistant clothing.

Different weather conditions require different clothing to stay comfortable on your runs. The more comfortable you are, the more enjoyable your workout and the more you will want to run.

Much of the content that I am going to be discussing here is centered around what clothing to wear while running with a focus on winter clothing for runners.

Run In Comfort
You Deserve It

It is no fun believe me to go running if you are going to be miserable every step of the way. Winter running especially with a light snow falling is exhilarating and you will want to be nice and warm to fully experience it.

So please look around and if you ever have anything to share about your running experiences or have any questions, I would love to hear about them.

To the sound of pounding feet,

Founder of Running Everywhere

  1. hello John,
I really enjoyed reading your page, thanks for sharing.
Believe it or not my running journey started at the ripe old age of 44. The stress in my life was getting all too much for me and the other forms of exercises I was doing weren’t cutting the mustard anymore. Running filled the void and relieved the stress more than I could have ever hoped for.
It hurt like hell in the start, but was all worth it.

    1. I am glad to see you are enjoying one of the great health benefits of running, stress relief! No matter what age you are the benefits will continue to add up. Don’t ever give up. I am 67 and still chugging along though a little slower but still at it. Enjoy your runs and let me know how you are progressing! Thanks
